IDTA Telemedicine Team Completes Romania Feasibility Study

In December 2013, the IDTA Telemedicine Team completed its work with the Government of Romania’s Ministry of Health.

The Feasibility Study (FS) team for the Project Romania: Feasibility Study: Telemedicine Solutions for Rural Areas would like to acknowledge the US Trade and Development Agency, Romanian Ministry of Health (MOH), and all stakeholders who have contributed to this work.

In particular great appreciation is given to the involvement of Dr. Raed Arafat, whose vision guided the entire process involved in the execution of this Project. His leadership and counsel helped the FS team to understand the challenges of providing primary care in rural and remote regions and the requirements for meeting the needs of the local populations and the medical professionals who serve them. Dr. Arafat’s guided this project throughout the entire process, allowing IDTA to gain access to personnel and materials at the Ministry of Health and to stakeholders throughout Romania and to counterparts in other countries.  His passion for service to patients and the medical profession is a model of the kind of quality that IDTA hopes to achieve.
